And they were giving away free samples
And then they hired you to be their taster.
That's how I felt when I found this community. What a genius idea. Genius.
I know I'll be visiting often for some very good bad ideas, but I hope it's also alright if I sneak in occassionally to post a few paintings rather than photos, because that's my raison d'etre : to paint villains. Yummy ones. My LJ is bloody full of them, and they're increasing.
I humbly leave a few tasters with a chocolate mint on your pillow...

And when it comes to villains, let's hear it for the Victorians! I indulged in a little book-inspired campy-horror-goodness last Halloween: (Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde; Dorian Grey; Phantom of the Opera, Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster)

ooh, nice paintings!
I especially adore Jareth, but you forgot my favorite part of that scene: the blue streaks and glitter in his hair! You captured Alan Rickman's/Snape's features particularly well, and the detail on Dracul's ringlets is spectacular.MMM. Chocolate!
P.S. Welcome!

Re: ooh, nice paintings!
Thank you! :DAnd arrgh, the blue streaks! There's always something ;) But as for the glitter it's really strange (in a great spooky way) that you should say that... You have unconsciously answered an enigma: http://bohemian-weasel.livejournal.c
Ah, and Dracul's ringlets. I could happily spend a very long time paying attention to their detail. :)
Oooh but I have to ask... is that Barnabas the vampire in your icon?

Wow, nice!!
These are fantabulous. And between Sweeney and Jareth (oh, what a lovely position to be in!), I'm swooning ;)February 4 2008, 17:03:20 UTC 4 years ago
Re: Wow, nice!!
Ha, now that would be a position with a good view ;)Though if you're wedged between those two, do mind you don't cut yourself on all those sharp cheekbones!

And I love your icon, though I'm not even entirely sure where it is, but it's very sweet and sad.

I really should paint on wood, because any other media fast becomes mush under my ministrations ;)

(As an aside, I don't know if you'll be interested, but I'm making some icons to upload later - just for anyone who wants to use them - and one of them is from a painting I did of Medusa. That's if your username indicates a genuine interest ;)

But I just had a sneaky at your profile and you have the Mighty Boosh there!! I bloody love that program, it just makes everything so much better.
'Come with me now on a journey through time and space...' *sigh* :)
... in fact... *looks around furtively* I've never actually revealed this before, but can you see anything... familiar about the Victorian Gothic Dracula? he hee

You paint the way I wish I could.
My favorite are the last ones, I love Victorian, well Victorian ANYTHING, and those cards are just gorgeous.

I am a huge Grima fan and I would love to see a dark sorrowful painting of him, something that would reflect his intelligence, and sorrow all at once. Reflect his lonliness. I would even purchase the real thing, if you sell your paintings that is. I am very impressed. Beautiful detail, shading, and the colors are wonderful.
I would be forever in your debt if you painted Grima, maybe even post some of my villain fictions.

Actually yes, I do sell my work, I have a store on ebay where I sell a few things each week :
http://stores.ebay.com/Bohemian-Weasel
I haven't drawn Darkness but I have drawn Grima a few times. They have all been 'sketch cards' (trading-card sized art at 2.5 x 3.5 inches).
I did this one just for run, he's looking slightly sinister:

There are some more of him (done for Topps) among these cards here, I would have cropped him out and uploaded that instead - but I can't access photobucket at the moment, so I'm afraid he'll have to be lumped up with the others.
1 here, top row middle:
And one from when he's looking at the armies that will give 'no dawn to the race of men' and shedding a tear. (I liked the candle being snuffed out.)
